It's been Official

Though Andy has yet to add on to the trophy, the official winner for the 2008 SeegerOlympics was joel. By a slightly embarrassing method of winning enough of the individual events (J v. B, T v. A v. J, J v. J v. B v. A, etc).

His victory celebration/announcement/hidden-away handing off of the trophy took place earlier in the year, but it's time to officially announce it here. New year, 2009 events are underway (evidently)...

Brooke & Joel (for example) have played Ms. Pac-Man at the Afton House Inn and the radio game on the way to Clinton...

A couple events have been called as including anyone who played. I think the NCAA tournament determined a point (is that over yet? i wasn't really paying attention). And theoretically, someone chose the Oscars.

All in all, it's been a fairly slow year, on pace to be as big as last year. Which wasn't all that big. Remember, SeegerOlympic fans, to submit your events in the comments section. So, that's that.

Before it's too late...

The winner of the 2007 Seeger Olympics was Andy.

Congratu- lations, Andy.

Here is a picture of Andy.

It was a hard-fought year & the trophy was only delivered to the champ in November (i'm looking at you, tim).
The year marked just the second in which women were allowed to compete, but continued to successfully lose the seegerOlympics, not because they can't win (that would be sexist), but simply, perhaps, because they won't win.

This year seems no different, with a tight 5-way race, but joel seeming to be solidly ahead in the individual events.

(notice: both the nutckrackers & the relative size of andy's watch are of interest in this photo. Also, obviously, the t-shirt. The SeegerOlympics blog will host its first ever contest... In the comment section, be the first to correctly identify the t-shirt andy is wearing and you will be sent a genuine, bona fide San Francisco souvenier picked out by three of the participants on New Year's Eve Day 2008... Good Luck - oh, and people wearing the shirt in this photograph are not eligble to win).

The Isaac Asimov Quiz

Tim has called a Seeger Olympics event, each taking a day at the Isaac Asimov Quiz, available on the sTrib website.

The days break down like this:

Papa - Friday, Sept. 26th
Andy - Monday, Sept. 29th
Brooke - Tuesday, Sept. 30th
Jen - Wednesday, Oct. 1st
Joel - Thursday, Oct. 2nd
Tim - Friday, Oct. 3rd

Don't forget to do the test on your assigned day, and if you'd like to play along with the Seegers choose a day based on your first name (notice the schedule - minus "Papa" who went Friday - is assigned in alphabetical order). Good luck. You shouldn't need it.

Survival Football!

The latest 5-person event, called by joel is Yahoo's Survival Football!

Contestants will pick 1 NFL team each week who they think is a lock to win. You can't choose the same team twice, so don't use up the Bears right away...

Just click here to play...

If you'd like to test your skills against the seegers, drop me an email telling me to sign you up to our league to play along (spots are limited).

the Shame!

from Shane!

We had the opportunity to play a few SeegerOlympics Events on Saturday, before andy headed back to 'Bama. We broke in "Shifty Checkers" (which i think we'd played before, but nobody else had any memory of), then headed to the park... the Clinton Park.

We made good on an earlier drunken promise to play 2x2 basketball, teams being Andy & Shane vs. Joel & Grant. First off, let me tell you how bad you can look playing basketball on a metal backboard/rim. Man we were bad, playing to 11 took SOOOO much longer than it should have.

Still up & running

Hey, SeegerOlympics 2008 is finally under way (actually, Tim & Andy have played some events, but their scores are not yet tallied {or remembered})...

As is Euro 2008. Here are the official picks for the tourney winner:

Andy - Germany (so predictable)
Tim - Poland
Jen - France
Brooke - Spain (ole)
Joel - Portugal

Anyway, enjoy the tourney, or at least my thoughts on it & party on...

Joel Dominates Brooke (in event related things)

The last two days have emitted a plethora of Brooke v. Joel events, beginning with Joel calling a NASCAR Race event at SummerFest (pictures would be forthcoming if i had a cord that hooked my cell phone to my camera).

This evening shane brought his Wii to town... After creating Miis, brooke and i competed in Tennis & Bowling.

Unfortunately for Brooke, i won all of these events.

More events are sure to follow, as tim n' jen are in clinton for the next several days.
